Flower Mound Progressive and Preparatory Orchestras
Videos of the Progressive and Preparatory Orchestras are posted

As part of its mission to bring music enjoyment and education to all ages and
elements of the community, the FMCO includes two educational orchestras.
The Preparatory Orchestra (since 1997) and the Progressive Orchestra (since 2001) are unique
in that their memberships include children, youth and adult amateur musicians.
This creative environment allows multi-generational families to participate together
in performing orchestras.
Because they are educational in nature and structure, the Flower Mound
Preparatory and Progressive Orchestras provide a venue for beginner and
intermediate musicians to develop and hone their skills while gaining opportunities
to perform arrangements from the classical and popular orchestral repertoire.
The tiered structure of the Flower Mound Community Orchestras provides an environment
where musicians can successfully advance "through the ranks" as they develop
their skills. Our Preparatory Orchestra members regularly advance to our Progressive Orchestra,
and many of our former Progressive Orchestra members now perform with our adult, professional
level Symphony Orchestra!
Preparatory Orchestra
The Flower Mound Preparatory Orchestra is designed for beginning orchestral musicians
of all ages with two - four years experience on their instruments. Family participation
is encouraged. This orchestra rehearses from 7:00 to 8:45 Tuesday evenings at
Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church. The Prep Orchestra is a perfect environment
for adult beginning musicians to fulfill a cherished dream, as well as a place
for younger beginners to supplement their public, private or home school music experience.
The Prep Orchestra accepts strings, winds, brass and percussion.
Progressive Orchestra
The Flower Mound Progressive Orchestra provides the opportunity for intermediate musicians
of all ages to experience a more challenging repertoire. This group also rehearses
on Tuesdays at Trietsch United Methodist Church from 7:00 to 8:45.
The Progressive Orchestra is structured for advancing students with five - eight or more years
of experience on their instruments who want to supplement their participation in school programs,
as well as for adults with a desire to refresh past playing experience or to
move beyond the beginner level of ability. Family participation is encouraged.
As with the Prep Orchestra, strings, winds, brass and percussion are welcomed into the group.
Because of the pedagogical nature of these two orchestras, there is a modest tuition
for participation. Discounts are offered for sibling and family participation.
The Preparatory and Progressive Orchestras perform for community events. Please check the
schedule link below on a regular basis for the latest schedule.
